...EXTREME HEAT WARNING HAS EXPIRED...

Thunderstorms and thunderstorm outflow have helped cool conditions
near and north of Interstate 80. Accordingly, the Extreme Heat
Warning has been allowed to expire. Hot and humid conditions are
expected to continue today with peak heat indices in the 95 to 100
degree range.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 105
  degrees in the afternoon.

* WHERE...In Illinois, Livingston, Ford, Iroquois, and Kankakee
  Counties. In Indiana, Benton, Jasper, and Newton Counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed.
