Amateur Radio

Amateur radio, also known as ham radio, is the use of radio frequency spectrum for purposes of non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, private recreation, radio sport, contesting, emergency communications and support for severe weather events and other public events.

I started out studying and then getting my Technician license in October of 2000. I then buckled down and started learning Morse Code which at the time was required in order to advance to a higher level license. I passed the Morse Code test in the spring of 2001 then began studying for the General Class license test. I passed that test in June of 2001 which gave me HF frequency privilege’s.
